What to see and visit at Laroque-des-Albères

The castle

Located in the heart of the village, this small town came under the domination of a lordly family who built this castle as a symbol of their power. The Tower is all that remains of the Laroque Castle Keep.

Tanya's hermitage

Notre-Dame de Tanya is a small church which stands to the north of the city. It was before the sanctuary of a hermitage. Today it has become a secondary church but is still used occasionally for worship.

The Pave mill

A former mill used for making flour. It was supplied with water by the city canal. In all, 5 mills enabled local residents to grind their cereals in the region. Renovated in 2006, it now belongs to the municipality.

Saint Felix Church

The Saint Félix Church is integrated into the castle. Formerly a weapons hall, the building became the town's parish church. Overlooking Place de la République, the church is made up of two bell towers.

Place de la République

Locals' favourite spot They like to meet there to celebrate traditional festivals. This custom has been going on for a long time now. Adjoining the square, one of the walls of the church was used as a pelota court.

The Rech des moulins

The “Rech des Moulins” is a canal which was used to operate the mills of Laroque-des-Albères. The Rech starts at the Laroque river, at a place called Les Caranques, near Rocavella. Then after 1 km of a peaceful route, its flow accelerates to plunge towards the village. A quiet little walk perfect for discovering the nature of the region and the village of Laroque-des-Albères!

Everything was great for our little family, the mobile home was clean and ergonomic, there was plenty of space, and the activities and staff were top notch!

Very pleasant, peaceful setting between the sea and the mountains. Lots of activities inside and outside the campsite nearby! Impossible to get bored. We're thinking of coming back in the future!
